On Saturday, September 14, I had the opportunity to attend Delta Lambda Phi’s Toga Party Fundraiser at Spiral Dance Bar in Lansing. The brothers of Michigan State’s premiere gay fraternity showed up in full force: togas, wreaths, sandals and all. They also sold baked goods at the front door.
“Delta Lambda Phi is a fraternity for Gay, Bisexual and Progressive Men. One of our mottos is ‘Making our presence known.’ We strive to make an impact at our school and in our community,” said Bishop Howard, president.
The crowd was treated to drink specials, fancy lights and a thumping beat. There were also performances by drag queens Cheetah and Delicious.
The event was well attended, with many patrons adhering to the theme by wearing their best Greek god & goddess attire. “We turned up so hard, the people will never forget it!” said Luis Perez, a DLP alum.
“It was great to have so many people come out and support us at our event, and we hope we can continue to have such support from the greater Lansing area,” said Howard about the party. I know I’ll be at the next one.
